Mountain Details

Mount Grant is both the highest and most topographically prominent mountain in both the Wassuk Range and Mineral County in Nevada, United States. It ranks thirteenth among the most topographically prominent peaks in the state. The peak is located within the Hawthorne Army Depot, resulting in very limited public access. - Wikipedia

Location: Mt. Grant is located in Mineral County, near Hawthorne, NV. 

Elevation: 11,280 feet at Top of Peak

Elevation Rank: Mt. Grant is the 13th Highest Point in Nevada, 500+ feet higher than Mt. Rose.

Distance: 17 miles

Elevation Gain: 7,000 feet

Average Grade: 14 percent

Half hike is an option: 
Half hikers are dropped off at an approximate halfway point; the second half. Transportation from the start point will leave approximately 15 minute prior to the full hike start,(6:45 AM). The second part of the half is challenging with elevation increases and switchbacks.  
Everyone arrives at the same finish line, the top of Mt Grant.  Everyone also gets a ride down.
Checkpoints
Located every 3 to 4 miles along the route. Each checkpoint has port-a-pots, bottled water, Gatorade, and snacks for the participants.

Q and A

Q: Where is the Friday registration?
A: The Friday night registration is held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Hawthorne just off HWY 95 across from McDonald’s.
Q: Will there be signs for the hike on 95?
A: There will be a sign at the start line on the west side of 95 in Walker. As you are passing through the Town of Walker on the west side of the road there is a bill board on the side of the hill, this is where you will be turning onto Cottonwood Dr.  We are right on the side of HWY 95.
Q: Where is the flag ceremony on Friday night?
A: The Flag Ceremony starts at 5:00PM on the corner of E and 5th Street at the stop light. We have volunteer’s carrier the Flag from that point to the Veteran’s Memorial Park, where it is raised.
Q: Could I ride my bike for the challenge?
A: Not at this time, We are discussing this option, however at this time we have not figure out a way to accommodate bikers
Q: If I have registered for the full hike can I switch to the 1/2 hike?
A:  This is no problem, just make sure you get on the bus at the start point that will take you to the halfway point.
Q: Can we enter the event if we are under the age of 18?
A: There is no problem with the age of the participants. When the waiver is signed it will need to be signed by a parent or guardian. If you have trouble online you can sign the waiver the night prior to the event or the morning of the event at the registration table.
Q: Do you have any extra shirts or coins from the challenge?
A: Normal we have a few extras after the event, email us as soon as you can because shirts do go fast. We do have coins left over, again email us if you are interested.
Q:  I missed the registration date of Sept 1. Is there any chance I can later register?
A:  We try to get everyone register so we know how many folks will be on the event, however we take registrations Friday night at the Veteran’s Memorial Park and the next morning right up to the start of the event at the event site.
Q: Our company would like to donate to the event how and where can this happen?
A: We like the donation in to us as soon as possible so we can get the donating company names on the shirts. The shirt are ordered early in Aug.  Donate are tax deductible. Donations need to be sent to “911MMGC, PO Box 2381, Hawthorne, Nv 89415” We normal give a couple of shirts and coins to the donors, please let us know if you wish to have shirts and coins.
Q: Will there be a dinner held for the participants? If so, where and what time?
A: Friday night at the Veterans Memorial park across from McDonald's there will be a spaghetti dinner put on by Barley Bar and Grill starting after the Flag raising ceremony around 5:30.  
Q: What do the participant receive for with the registration fee.
A: The registration fee includes a free dinner the night prior to the event at the Veteran's Memorial Park, A 911 Memorial Mt. Grant shirt, water and snacks at the checkpoint along the trail and a 911MMGC coin.
Q: Are there discount available?
A: At this time, we are not offering discounts.
